General Contracting

We are excited to help you build, add on to, or remodel your new home. Bringing our years of experience with passive house strategies, healthy materials, and building science, we offer general contracting services within a service area that surrounds our office location in Arvada, CO. Reach out to us today to start the process.

Our Priorities

We will apply Passive House principles to your new home, remodel, or addition, regardless of if you are hoping to build a certified passive house. These principles have been developed in a rigorous manner to make homes use less energy, support occupant health, and feel more comfortable. The use of energy modeling can help to mitigate thermal losses and condensation risk, to make the home last a lifetime and beyond.
Whether you are curious about our Straw Structural Insulated panels, natural plaster, hemp, sheep wool insulation, or earth block construction, we are excited to talk about it! When used appropriately, natural materials can support environmental and occupant health, local economies, building science and resilience.
Building science is what allows us to model and predict what materials and design strategies will create a healthy home. For example, while a building may not need to breathe like a living creature, a vapor open air control layer will prevent condensation issues. Results of this knowledge are high indoor environmental quality, energy-efficient built environments, and increased occupant comfort and satisfaction.
We love to get involved early on with your design team and you, so that we get the whole story, and are invested in the project goals from the very beginning. We have a network of architects whom we have collaborated with in the past, if you are still looking for a partner in that work. We are also excited about curating new relationships with other building professionals in this field.

Our Process

Initial Contact

Whether you discovered us independently or through a professional recommendation, our process begins with an introductory meeting. This initial conversation allows us to determine if we are a natural fit for one another. If our values align, we will dive deeper into your specific project goals and outline the next steps to bring your vision to life.

Budget Assessment

Establishing a shared financial understanding is a critical early step. Based on our history with similar projects and your general scope of work, we provide a ballpark investment range for your project. If this initial estimate exceeds your target budget, we can collaboratively adjust the scope or materials to find a financial path forward that still meets your core needs.

Pre-Construction

Once aligned on the budget target range, we enter into a pre-construction agreement. This phase allocates dedicated hours to detailed cost estimating, timeline planning, and refining technical specifications. We work closely with your design team to finalize selections and construction methods, ensuring our commitment to high-performance and healthy home standards and materials remains central to the build.

Permitting and Planning

We manage the logistics of permit submittals, coordinating with architects, municipal jurisdictions, and utility companies. This is the final window for “behind-the-scenes” preparation before work begins. During the permit review period, we fine-tune the master schedule and address any site-specific requirements or neighborhood regulations to ensure a seamless transition to the job site.

Construction Phase

This is where your property begins its transformation. Whether we are breaking ground on a new home or remodeling an existing space, we maintain transparency through a dedicated online communication platform. You will receive regular updates on the budget and schedule, complemented by routine virtual meetings with you and your architect. We prioritize a clean, organized, and safe environment for workers and neighbors alike.

Project Handover

The culmination of our hard work is the official hand-off. We provide you with the keys along with a comprehensive owner’s manual containing all necessary information for operating and maintaining your new home systems. We also budget specific time for post-move-in touch-ups, ensuring that any minor scuffs and final details are addressed as you settle into your new space.

Post Construction

Our relationship doesn’t end when the project is finished; we take pride in the lasting friendships we build with our clients. We stay in close contact during the first year to ensure everything is performing as expected. Should any issues arise within your one-year warranty period, our team remains available and responsive to provide the support you need.
