Straw Panel Construction

At Living Craft, we are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of the construction industry by using carbon-storing materials to provide sustainable and high-performance building solutions. As a part of this mission, Living Craft is excited to be offering straw panels for both custom construction and for pre-designed kit homes. We are members of the Seed Collaborative, meaning that our straw panels have been meticulously designed and thoroughly tested in real world conditions. Seed Panels have a record of long term durability and ease of construction in a variety of regions and climate zones.

About Our Straw Panels

The Straw-Structural Insulated Panel (S-SIP) is a modular construction product that combines the best of high performance building techniques with streamlined, low-carbon production and carbon-storing materials. When combined with other climate-positive building solutions, this often results in net-negative carbon emissions per structure in new construction.

Our team is ready to collaborate with you to integrate our S-SIPs into your new home design, ensuring a resilient, high-performance building envelope. Panels can be used for new, ground up builds, or additions. We have the engineering and design resources to panelize your project while keeping the design intent.

Built with locally sourced wood and straw, your kit home is as resilient as it is contemporary in design. Personalize your interior with an optional natural clay and lime plaster finish, and embrace the healthy living environment created by sleek, non-toxic wood finishes. We prioritize climate-friendly living and comfort, integrating advanced heating, cooling, ventilation, water, and power systems that are fossil-fuel free and all-electric. Off-grid options are also available. Discover a new era of modern accessory dwelling units.

Straw Bale Structural Panels

We are excited to begin offering straw bale structural panel wall systems, or Straw Structural Insulated Panels (S-SIPs), in partnership with the Seed Collaborative. These meticulously designed structurally insulated panels use carbon-storing straw to insulate walls, floors, and ceilings in residential and commercial applications. Off-site panelized construction offers benefits for your construction timeline and quality oversight, as well as optimizing efficiency and reducing waste. Contact us to see how we can panelize your existing design, or collaborate with your designer to create a custom straw structural panel home, office, shop, and more.

ADU and Home Kits

Straw panel accessory dwellings are perfect for your backyard, or as an affordable option for a small new home. We are currently offering a range of pre-designed kits for spaces between 300 and 1200 square feet, in partnership with the Seed Collaborative. Made with carbon storing and high performing straw structural insulated panels, these homes are beautiful and healthy.
